Standard business contents policies stop at your front door. Tools and equipment coverage protects what matters most — the gear you take into the field every day.
Most standard Business Contents or Business Owner's Policies cover equipment and tools located at your fixed business location. But when those tools are loaded in your truck, stored in a jobsite trailer, or installed at a customer's property — they're typically outside the scope of that coverage. Tools & Equipment insurance fills exactly this gap.
Covers portable hand tools and smaller power tools stored in your vehicles, toolboxes, or trailers. A typical deductible is $100 per occurrence. Note: a Locked Truck Warranty applies — claims for theft require evidence of visible forced entry.
For larger, higher-value assets — tractors, bobcats, skid steers, loaders, and similar equipment — individually listed on the policy by serial number and stated value. Deductible options range from $250 to $2,500 depending on the equipment type and desired premium level.
Protects materials and equipment during the installation process at a customer's site. Particularly valuable for HVAC contractors, electricians, and plumbers who may have expensive equipment — such as heat pumps or generators — sitting on a jobsite awaiting installation. Coverage is available in $10,000 increments.
Many Business Owner's Policies include a baseline amount of equipment coverage automatically — but limits are often too low to cover a significant loss, and off-premises coverage may be restricted. Before purchasing a separate floater, we'll review what your existing policy already provides so you don't pay for overlapping coverage. Call us or start a quote and we'll take a look.
